Bath Mozartfest is an annual 9 day 15 concert festival taking place this year from Friday 8 – Saturday 16 November.
Now in its 34th year, with performances by the very best national and international classical musicians, it attracts music lovers from all around the UK and overseas. The festival is renowned for quality and excellence, endorsed by regular 5 -star media reviews.
Concerts take place in the beautiful city of Bath, in historic venues of Bath Abbey, Assembly Rooms, Guildhall and St Mary's Bathwick.
Renowned ensembles are always at the heart of our programming and this year include the Pavel Haas Quartet who will open our festival, the peerless Takács Quartet , Bath favourites the Nash Ensemble and the French Modigliani String Quartet who will make their festival debut.
World famous pianists abound: Sir András Schiff, at the peak of his career; Imogen Cooper with mezzo soprano Sarah Connolly performing a thrilling song recital under the glittering chandeliers of Bath's Guildhall and Angela Hewitt, performing her new project The Mozart Odyssey with The London Mozart Players, to name but a few.
Our two Saturday morning 11 am "coffee concerts" will be given by Alban Gerhardt, cello and Steven Osborne, piano and on the second Saturday by the BBC New Generation Artists, the Leonkoro Quartet - one of the most exciting quartets of their generation, appearing with the equally outstanding clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe.
The popular weekday series of one hour lunchtime concerts also showcase a plethora of exciting newer talent.
The festival will draw to a close with the celebrated choral ensemble The Sixteen, conducted by Harry Christophers. Their programme in Bath's glorious Abbey with Mozart's sublime Ave Verum Corpus and then Haydn's mighty Nelson Mass is a fittingly triumphant close to what promises to be nine days of uplifting music-making.
