Über

St Peter's Church is a 15th century building with an extensive Victorian restoration from the 19th century. Historic links date back more than 500 years to the former castle on the mound and the ordination of Thomas Wolsey, who eventually became a Cardinal. While no longer a religious institution, a charitable trust manages the church building for the benefit of the public and still offers visitors fascinating wall memorials, beautiful stained glass windows and a chance to learn about its history through self-guided tours. One of the best views of Marlborough and the surrounding area is found at the top of the Tower, still open by appointment to visitors willing to climb the 137 steps to the top.

Today, St Peter’s is a community hub for the Arts and History hosting events, exhibitions and activities for its members, local residents and tourists.

There new coffee shop, Cardinal Coffee Shop, offers a wide range of coffee, tea, fresh locally made cakes and light lunches.

Tower tours are now available every Saturday and bank holiday from Easter Weekend until October (weather permitting).
